After last night’s delicious Gujarati thali, we overslept & started late from Vadodara for Pune. Since we didn’t had any meet today, we were ok with late start.
I knew it won’t be possible to attend WordCamp Pune which was happening the same day & my purchased ticket is going to be unused.
After breakfast & a pleasant surprise from GDGBaroda team, at 9.30 A.M. we started our journey to Pune. I had a deep connection with Pune, since I lived there for 7 months in 2010. I was excited & had a nostalgic feeling.
We took National Highway 8 to reach Pune & the way was smooth. The only time we faced lot of traffic & bumps while crossing Mumbai. Though this rough patch didn’t last for long, as Mumbai-Pune expressway is pure bliss with great view.
Finally after 10 hours of drive, covering almost 550Km & paying INR 708 ($11) at toll booths we reached KalyaniNagar, Pune. We checked into the unpleasant hotel (Hotel Sudarshan) which was booked via OyoRooms. I had to call OyoRooms customer care & asked them to change our hotel immediately. With a little persuasion, I managed to change to premium property without paying anything. Finally at 9.45 P.M, we settled down at The guest house which was at Koregaon Park, Lane no.1. Same place where Osho ashram is.
Day 2: September 7th Pune chapter
Pune is the city of techies & developers. I was expecting a lot of young guns & I was not disappointed as out of 35, a majority were college going students, followed by Shouters working in I.T. firm or freelancing.
Many of them were blogging from last 1-2 years, few of them just got hooked to blogging & rest of them wanted to know & start a blog. Thanks to Amit from WPoets for arranging the ShoutMeet in his office conference room.
We started the meet at 11 A.M. & an engaging session went on till 2.30. We discussed a lot about blogging, answered tons of questions & gifted blogger goodies such as premium WordPress themes from Magazine 3, Hosting from Hostgator India, Social Media tool from SocialPilot & Exclusive affiliate marketing from ShoutMeLoud.
A notable mention for Amey who sang a beautiful song for all of us. (Will be uploading the video soon).
By the end, we all Clicked a group picture & bid goodbye to each other hoping one day we all meet again.
I had few meetings lined up for day & had to catch up with few friends. So the day went on as usual for me & next morning (8th September) we started for Goa at 9.00 A.M.
Right now we are en route to Goa & will update you what happens next in upcoming posts.
